Week 1 Going inward
This week’s theme is "Going Inward," and I’ve included some prompts and writing cues to help you get started. Our stories carry the truth of who we are, and whether you write with clarity or subtlety, this is an opportunity to explore freely, putting your thoughts and feelings into words without judgment. If another idea related to this theme comes to mind, feel free to go with it!
I recommend writing two pages before you begin editing. Allow yourself to find a flow—editing can come later. A little bit of writing each day helps keep those inner demons at bay. :)

What I am
What makes you, you? Write about the parts of yourself—your habits, your thoughts, the things you value, and/or the things you struggle with. It doesn’t need to be perfect or polished, just honest. What’s real when you look at yourself without any filters? There’s something deeply human in those quiet, sometimes messy, pieces of who we are. To add a little extra creativity, assign each part of you a color.
Example:
A fidgeting hand,
Twisting hair,
A quiet gray reminder,
Of the discomfort I wear.

But then, there’s laughter,
Bright as the sun,
A joyful reminder
I'm free to run.

Zoom In: Childhood Memory
Zoom in on a memory and describe it through the details. What did the room look like, what were you wearing, what was the weather like, etc.? Focus on the specifics—sounds, smells, and textures. Who were you with, and what was happening around you? Let the surroundings paint the emotions of the moment, without directly saying how you felt. Let the details speak for themselves.

Song Study:
This is such a raw and vulnerable song. Worth listening more than once, or a thousand times like I have.
Podcast:
Loneliness. She is Mother. Dr. A
With Dr A. as our special guest this week, I felt it important to include her podcast. She explores loneliness with her son, Esteban, and it's truly moving to hear her words of wisdom.
