She is adamant about making sure whomever needs to be a student can be and will do her best to work with your budget!
Angie’s past of abuse, neglect and the suicide of her brother became a catalyst for depression and anxiety. When Angie started writing and performing music about her experiences at the age of 18, healing began. Now after more than 20 years in the music industry, she uses her personal expertise to coach people of all ages who are ready to face their internal and external struggles. Using songwriting and music as an expression to let go and/or face what you’ve been running from doesn’t feel like work- but more of a safe, creative and FUN outlet.
Angie has won several songwriting awards including Best Singer/Songwriter by Westword- both editors and readers choice. She has also done songwriting workshops with the Eating Disorder Unit at the Children’s Hospital and was showcased on Veria Go network show “Yogi Cameron” doing songwriting lessons as a way of healing. She has also worked as a Songwriting teacher for the LYNX Arts Summer Camp at CU Denver. Angie started the first Girl’s Rock program with Susan Phelan and Jen Gilleran at Doghouse Music and has worked extensively with Globalsound Studios and Swallow Hill. She has also the opportunity to play for countless charities including Team 25, Concerts for Kids, Mission Wear, Second Wind Suicide Fund and the Delores Project.
Writing workshops are journal based for all styles and levels of writing. The workshops are 4 weeks long and explore different topics to help inspire you every week. There is also a planned happy hour for all students that includes a special live performance of an upcoming musician/author or artist. Workshops and rates will be posted as they become available. At this time, all workshops are virtual. Please email Angie for more information.
Being extremely new to writing and journaling, this class was absolutely perfect for me! I learned so much in 4 weeks. The content was incredible, songs, book excerpts and the TED talk were all amazing! There was the right amount of instruction and writing cues along with the freedom to really explore within my writing. I really enjoyed the one on one feedback, it was given in such a supportive way. I would recommend this class to anyone wanting to dive more into writing and learning.]
Angie has a gift for teaching. I was nervous for my first lesson, but her fun-loving and good nature immediately put me at ease. I could tell a change in my voice immediately and was sent home with homework for next week’s lesson which kept me driven. Angie has helped me with song-writing, harmonizing, and gaining the self-esteem and confidence I need to achieve my musical goals. My weekly lessons with her are a very special part of my life and keep my love of music alive. I feel very lucky to have such a wonderful and talented teacher and highly recommend Angie to anyone who wants to learn, laugh and improve their skills in a fun and supportive environment!
I love this class so much! The content was great. I loved that there were multiple different types of content to really get a chance to explore different types of writing. The one on one's are so awesome and so helpful. It is great to get live feedback and get help making things better on the spot. Happy hours are fun to share what you've worked on with other people to get more feedback but I also loved seeing what other people did to get ideas for myself!
Angie is as warm and genuine as she is talented. She has a way with her students that not only brings out their very best musical abilities but their very best character. She's a rare find and we love her!
